Welcome to TLC CT, a training institute that offers cultural competence and other workshops for mental health professionals and agencies. Our trainings are NASW approved for Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) and Psychologists in Connecticut and now also in Rhode Island.

Workshops

I. Cultural Competence Training (3 CEUs)

This 3 hour workshop is offered at several convenient locations in Connecticut and provides the mandated CEUs needed for mental health professionals pursuing license renewals. It will prepare the participants to define culture, explore biases and develop cultural competency skills. It will also cover the use of the DSM 5 cultural formulation interview. II. Cultural Competence : Multicultural view at Parenting (2 CEUs)

This 2 hour workshop is offered at several convenient locations in Connecticut and provides the mandated CEUs needed for mental health professionals pursuing license renewals. It explores multicultural views on parenting, biases imposed on parenting and the difference between abuse/neglect versus cultural practices. Please click here... for training details.

Private Trainings

The Cultural Competence Trainings can also be offered as onsite workshops for non profits and other agencies (minimum group size is 10). We also partner with organizations to provide  customized trainings on topics such as Racism, Self Awareness & Communication, Organizational Outreach and Cross Cultural Skill Development. About The Trainers

Sukriti Kushwah, LMFT, Ph.D

Sukriti Kushwaha, LMFT, Ph.D

Sukriti is a New York-licensed marriage and family therapist, with a Doctorate in Emotional intelligence. She has worked in the human services field abroad and in the United States. She has also taught post-graduate counselling courses, worked as a school counsellor, worked for various nonprofits  and  has most recently been a part of a successful private practice. She is an approachable clinician and trainer with extensive experience of working with different cultures and diverse populations. Sukriti has a holistic approach to therapy and believes that the mental , physical and spiritual well being are equally significant in the healing process and in achieving one's full potential.

Ivette Betancourt, LMFT

Ivette Betancourt, LMFT

Ivette is a licensed marriage and family therapist with over 30 years of experience. She currently works with couples, individuals, families and children. In the past, she has been a teacher, a social worker in the Department of Children and Families, a mental health clinician at several nonprofits, and a supervisor for other clinicians. She is bilingual (Spanish and English) and bi-cultural. She has extensive experience working with people from various cultural backgrounds. Her empathetic, nonjudgmental attitude and sense of humour make her a unique clinician and trainer. Ivette believes in a wrap around approach to therapy where the community resources all come together to support individuals and make a difference.
