TLCCT recently hosted a Cultural Competency workshop a the Stamford Innovation Center. The workshop was well attended by clinicians across Fairfield and New Haven counties. There was a lot of dialogue around the new DSM V cultural formulation interview and leveraging it for assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning of clients.
TLCCT trainers successfully completed 'Culturally and Linguistically Responsive Skills' training for Family Centered Services of CT on 10/21/16. This custom training is based on the framework recommended by Department of Children and Families (DCF) to promote the development of culturally and linguistically competent services among human services and behavioral health providers. This training conducted over 2 sessions of 3 hrs each covered the 45 employees of the agency.
Ivette Betancourt, LMFT and Sukriti Kushwaha, LMFT, Ph.D., of TLCCT (Training and Learning for Clinicians) facilitated a Cultural Competency on-site training at Westport Family Counseling on Tuesday October 4th, 2016. The training was well attended by 13 clinicians who received CEUs and met the new state licensing requirements for Cultural Competency CEUs. It was a vibrant group of clinicians and sparked thoughtful dialogue about cultural awareness in a clinical setting.
